Hangover? These nutrients support your health when you sometimes have one drink too many.
A hangover occurs when you drink too much alcohol and the next morning you feel bad, tired, have a headache, and may even throw up. No wonder people are looking for a way to reduce the severity of a hangover or avoid it altogether.
What causes a hangover / hangover?
Contrary to popular belief, alcohol itself does not trigger the hangover at all. Still, the truth is that you’re likely to get a hangover or hangover if you drink a lot of alcohol.
Hangovers are caused by the metabolic products that are formed in the liver when alcohol is broken down. The enzyme ADH converts the alcohol into acetaldehyde there. Its poisonous effects cause many of the dreaded hangover or hangover symptoms.
Besides the alcohol itself, hydration (or lack thereof) is one of the biggest culprits for a hangover or hangover. Alcohol has a diuretic effect, which means it causes your body to lose water. Also, alcohol depletes our bodies of important electrolytes that are responsible for maintaining fluid balance and helping you stay hydrated.
Frequent alcohol consumption can also lead to vitamin deficiency. You can find out which signs you should look out for in order to recognize a vitamin deficiency at an early stage in our article “Recognizing a vitamin deficiency, these are the alarm signs”.
The most important Hangover nutrients
Unfortunately, there is no magic pill. But various vitamins and minerals can play an important role in supporting your health, especially when it comes to the dreaded hangover or hangover.
B vitamins
Vitamins B1, B3 and B6, folate and B12 are increasingly depleted by alcohol and are among the first nutrients to fall into deficit due to excessive alcohol consumption. If your body lacks them, you feel tired and flabby.
Our natural B vitamins from organic plants ensure that your body is always well supplied with B vitamins despite alcohol consumption – for more energy and performance.
Magnesium
Due to the increased excretion of water under alcohol, important electrolytes such as magnesium are also flushed out of the body largely unused. Headaches, muscle aches, irritability and an accelerated heartbeat are the result.
CALM A LAMA contains plant magnesium from organic green algae to replenish your losses. It also ensures the healthy functioning of muscles, psyche and nerves.

Vitamin C
Alcohol consumes vitamin C in the body, as it is needed for detoxification and to reduce inflammatory processes in the body. Research has also shown that alcohol consumption can negatively impact your immune system by suppressing normal immune responses.
If you drink frequently, you should be consuming vitamin C, a powerful antioxidant that plays an important role in supporting your immune system.

It provides high doses of herbal vitamin C for detoxification, antioxidant protection and your immune defense, giving you a new boost of energy.

A few more practical tips
- When celebrating, always drink at least one glass of mineral water or more for every glass of alcohol. Of course, you can also dilute any alcoholic beverage you consume with mineral water.
- Not all alcohol is the same. Hangovers are more likely with whiskey, cognac and inexpensive red wine than with other drinks. This is due to the so-called fusel alcohols in it, which form strong hangover substances. Rather reach for beer, gin, vodka and good wine.
- The best way to prevent a hangover is not to drink too much in the first place. 😉
PS: While we focus here on post hangover measures, it is equally important to give our liver ongoing attention and care. A strong and healthy liver is not only important after a night out, but also plays a central role in our overall well-being. Click here for the article Tired all the time?
